Welcome to another issue of the Team Spotlight series at LayerX 🚀

In this series, we delve into the stories, experiences, and perspectives of the incredible people that make LayerX. Today, we get to chat with Daniela Silva, Business Developer & Project Manager at LayerX, where we’ll get to know what it’s like to pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships in the web3 ecosystem.

What does a typical workday look like for a Business Developer in the web3 ecosystem?

Being a Business Developer in the web3 ecosystem means flexibility: everything changes very quickly, so we must be on top of all that is happening. I would say that without an organized to-do list, it can be a bit challenging. That’s why I always start my day checking the pending tasks, to never miss anything. Then, comes the most exciting part of my day: exploring what is happening in the web3 world, what is trending, and improving my creativity, so that I can understand where our products would fit better and how we can engage with potential partners.

So, I truly believe that being updated, doing some brainstorming with my team, and try to think of other ways to implement our products, are the keys for this position.

What do you appreciate most about LayerX’s culture?

Like many of us, I came from a reality where there is not much space to flourish with our creativity. So the most exciting part about LayerX’s culture is that you can truly be yourself, with no boundaries while maximizing your added value, no matter your background or position in the company. That’s actually my favorite value of LayerX — Empowerment. Just work hard, think big and LayerX will walk alongside you!

Did you know anything about web3 before joining LayerX?

Since I have someone very close to me that works within Web3, it was practically impossible not to be interested. After realizing the potential and how it could impact my personal and professional life, joining LayerX became a very easy decision.

How would you explain the core principles of web3 to someone who may not be familiar with the industry?

Oh, that moment when you have to explain what web3 is to your family or friends, is when you know if you are in or not! I always like to start explaining some basic history of the Web, such as what was Web1 and Web2, giving some examples based on the UX, privacy experience or even some achievements that we have accomplished, during the evolution of the Web.

With that, I introduce Web3 as ‘problem-solver’ for those fears we hold about the internet — “I have no control over my personal information or even how I want to manage my finances.” I try to explain smoothly and clearly how we now have the possibility of living in a decentralized world, where we have the right to decide how we manage our privacy and our finances, and all the progress that we have made so far — and of course, if we are in Web3 we will always give Bitcoin as an example 😆

What are the main challenges of working in web3?

I think the most challenging part is the fact that we haven’t had a background in which web development has been thoroughly explored in our educational journey. So, I believe that for someone like me, who has never had formal education in technology, it will require greater effort and extra personal commitment to learn everything behind Web3. However, it will allow Web3 to stand out even more for those who want to be part of a digital revolution.

How do you approach addressing client concerns or questions related to the intricacies of web3 technologies?

From the perspective of a LayerX BD, it’s easier, since our products are well known in our technological reality and very user-friendly. I always make some comparisons to Web2 and try to explain how we can solve problems or even improve their current business with web3 resources. So, I make it like a bridge between both, giving some practical examples and showing the robustness of Web3.

What are your top three resources for keeping up with web3 developments?

To stay updated in the web3 world, I would say that Twitter is now my biggest ally. Then, LinkedIn, since it’s one of the easier channels to find out the latest news about the projects I like to follow and also to be able to interact with them. Last but not least, there’s a cool podcast called ‘Bankless’.

How do you see the evolution of the corporate and web3 market in the next 5 years?

I believe that Web3 will become increasingly necessary given the current state of our world and technological expansion. More and more companies are beginning to recognise that we need more secure and automated digital infrastructures. I’m sure that in five years, we’ll be thanking all web3 builders for all their hard work to make this a reality.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I have the “S” rule for my free time: Sun & Sea & Sports.

My well-being depends on it.

Anything else you’d like to share with our community?

I’d like to share how wonderful it is to be able to choose where we want to invest our time. So never settle for less than being able to work and belong to a family like LayerX!

And that’s all for today folks!

Stay tuned for the next episode of our Team Spotlight series, where we’ll introduce you to another remarkable member of the LayerX family.
